Peru is the third biggest country of South America and the 19th biggest in the world. The country is divided into three different geogaphical zones, a narrow coastline, the Andes, and the amazone rainforest.
The coastline is basically dry desert-landscape, and here you find the biggest cities and the best roads, like Panamericana which is the worlds longest road. Rivers comes down from the Andes down to the pacific ocean, creating oasis in the desert. There are about 40 of them.
Just 100 kilometers inside the country the Andes rises up to heights more than 6000 meters above sea level. Huascaran i Perus highest mountain with ts 6768 meters. The mayor part of the highland lies at 3000-4000 meters, and the different mountainis are separated by deep valley. Its a marvelous scenery, but the roads are not the best ones.
East of the Andes, is the Peruvian part of the worlds biggest rainforest Amazonas. These parts is much lower and the temperature is higher and it´s more humid. Here there are a lot of untouched nature, and hardly any cilvilization, except a few cities like Iquitos. Roads are very poor, and most transport is done by boats on the rivers.
