Lima

The proud capital of the Peruvians, founded 1535 by Fransisco Pizarro, is the fourth biggest city of south America. Its the centre of the country in any possible way. With its 7 million inhabitants it contains one third of all Peruvians.

The charming city consists of many beautiful districts like the downtown Lima , or the historical centre, with its beautiful colonial buildings and parks with great statues.

The most spectacular areas are located near Plaza de Armas and Plaza San Martin.

By Plaza de Armas, "the heart of Lima", you'll find the great Cathedral, the president-palace, and other old colonial buildings.

Some blocks from Plaza de Armas is the San Francisco church with its famous catacombs lying like a labyrinth below the church. In the modern parts of Lima is Miraflores the prettiest and most commercial.

Here are all kinds of shopping malls, discos, bars, restaurants and casinos. There are also many nice and romantic parks. The most famous one is "Parque del amor",- the park of love. You can also find nice beaches around here and take a swim in the pacific ocean.

Modern Lima

Lima is a town with huge contrasts, from the beautiful parts of Miraflores, San Isidro and Surco.

From here it is not far away to the poor parts of Lima. The city is split in two by the river Rimac. In the north you have the poor people, while the rich part lives in south.
